Data protection

What is it GDPR? What does it mean for our band?

The EU General Data Protection Regulations [GDPR] replaces the Data Protection Directive 95/46/EC and was designed to harmonize data privacy laws across Europe, the protect and empower all EU citizens data privacy and to reshape the way organisations across the region approach data privacy.  The Enforcement date is 25 May 2018, at which time those organisations in non-compliance may face heavy fines. This legislation is not aimed at small amateur organisations, however, it will apply to them and therefore bands should be prepared for and aware of the changes in their responsibilities. As every band and organisation is different our partners, Making Music UK have produced some tailored guidance to help bands.  This can be found at this link.
